This three day training is aimed at anyone who already knows ITIL and would like to familiarize themselves with CMMI and with the integration of ITIL in CMMI. The Process Areas of CMMI and the integration of ITIL into CMMI (CITIL) are explained in this training. This is the official Software Engineering Institute (SEI) „Introduction to CMMI v1.2“ training which has been specially adapted for people with ITIL knowledge.

This training gives you a detailed overview of the structure and contents of CMMI v1.2 and CITIL. You will become familiar with the Process Areas of CMMI and the integration of ITIL contents in the CMMI structure.

The individual topics covered:

  • Introduction to process improvement with CMMI and CITIL
  • Overview of CMMI and CITIL
  • Structure, composition and components of CMMI and CITIL
  • Maturity Levels, Capability Levels and Process Areas of CMMI and CMMI-ITIL in the Staged and Continuous Representations
  • Links between the process areas
  • Interpretation of CMMI and CITIL
  • Practical application of CMMI and CITIL

Note: In this Upgrade training, the details of ITIL will be only briefly repeated, but not explained in detail.

Proportions of 60% theory to 40% practice

Prerequisites

You already have a „Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management” according to EXIN.

Subsequent training

We recommend to follow-up with the Internal CMMI Appraiser/Assessor training course as the next step.

Results

After this training you will have:

  • An overview of the CMMI Product Suite
  • Become familiar with the contents and structure of Maturity Levels 1 to 5 of both CMMI and CITIL as well as the Capability Levels 0 to 5
  • An understanding of the components, key concepts, model structures in CMMI and CITIL and important relationships between both models
  • An awareness of the characteristic behavior at each maturity level
  • Knowledge of how you can put CMMI and CITIL to practise in your organization to support the process improvement initiative

After completing the course, every participant receives an official Introduction to CMMI v1.2 certificate of participation from the Software Engineering Institute of the Carnegie Mellon University.
