The challenges of a product manager...

But first a cup of coffee - he has a lot to do today, because a sprint change is coming up soon. Because he has to do important things for his boss at the same time, he's only working part-time with his team and hasn't really been able to take care of the backlog in recent weeks. But never mind, he's back now. He had written down the most important things at the very beginning and told the team exactly how to work on them in his absence. He hadn't spoken to the other product owners. But it will work out somehow! Full of enthusiasm, he now gets to work on his backlog for sprint planning. What is probably the most important thing? It has to go to the top - that's what he learned in the training! That looks important, it has to go at the top! They have to deliver the second user story to another team. Then they should just wait a bit, it's not his fault. Will they be able to do everything in this sprint? He can make an estimate, then the team will have a reference point and things will go faster. It's not the first flux generator he's built here. So, now everything fits. Full of enthusiasm, Kalle goes into sprint planning and happily greets his team - funny how they don't seem to be in the mood for planning!

Do you know this? As a product owner or product manager, do you sometimes have questions about how all the theory from the training courses really works in practice? How do you really work effectively with several teams on a product? What are anti-patterns that I should never adopt?

We want to answer and discuss these and many other topics during our PO/PM Barcamp. We want to shed light on the challenges of a Product Owner or Product Manager together. We often have full responsibility for the product, but when it comes to making concrete decisions, we lack the authority. Added to this is the difficulty of finding the balance between time, money and available team members to achieve short-term goals without losing sight of the long-term strategy. The question may also be asked: does this clearly communicated strategy "from above" even exist? The area of responsibility of a product owner and product manager is broad and often underestimated. We want to discuss this with you at our barcamp.

What, you haven't heard about our BarCamps yet? Well, for all those who have only just joined us. A BarCamp is an open conference to which all participants can come with topics and concerns that are worked out together. We want to benefit from each other's experiences and look for solutions with a lot of fun and creativity.

That's why we cordially invite you to our 1st German-speaking PO/PM BarCamp on February 6, 2020 in Darmstadt!

As part of the BarCamp, you can bring your own topics from your day-to-day PO/PM work or take part in discussions and exchanges with other product owners/product managers from various German companies. In addition to the pure open space part, we at KEGON and wibas will also come up with one or two highlights for interactive impulse knowledge transfer.

Register here and secure your place.

Here you can attend a 3-day SAFe® Agile Product and Solution Management (APSM) training course in advance (thematically appropriate).
