Creates a standard for the breakfast set!
Do you know this? Still half asleep, I go to the hotel breakfast buffet in the morning, draw my wake-up drink, sit down at a free table - preferably without being distracted by the flickering N24 stream on big-screen TVs - and realize that only half of the tools are on the table. In this hotel, it is apparently customary to place a cup on the table, but not a coffee spoon. The knife and fork lie neatly on a napkin. I have fetched spoons, but the sugar. In this case, it's in sachets on the buffet and not at the table. Instead, clever sayings in chalk adorn the dark wall.
Let's be honest: I don't want to reinvent the table setting every morning. Can't you just put everything on the table that people need at this time of day? Or decide on three variants such as a small, medium or large breakfast table, write it at the entrance and do the same everywhere in Europe?
Yes, I know you're going to say that you can't please everyone anyway. But you can please MANY people, can't you?
Knife, fork, small spoon, large spoon, cup, sugar, sweetener, salt, pepper, napkin. For me, that's normal = medium. "Large" means that there is still a little flower. Can, but doesn't have to. "Small" means: Pick your own stuff from the buffet. But this should also be reflected in the price. I keep reading that we live in a service society. When it comes to breakfast, we are obviously a self-service society with a penchant for puzzling out the place settings. Let's see what's already there today and what I still have to look for.
And since all the bureaucrats in Brussels probably have the same problem, they could solve it right away. It hardly costs any working time or taxpayers' money, because they can sort it out over breakfast. And submit and adopt it as a European standard. That would be progress in a united Europe.
After Brexit, we won't have to worry about the special curl for England to deal with a Full English Breakfast.
But for all other places: A prepared environment to start the day without any guesswork. A dream.
