Base camp 4.5: "Increasing employee performance"

What can managers do to increase employee performance?

With this question, Alois Strott, Managing Director of the chemfidence Service GmbH in his keynote speech at the base camp meeting on Monday evening.

With theses ranging from "Work makes you ill" to "Work keeps you healthy", he deliberately covered a wide range of topics as an invitation to the discussion group, which first thought about solutions in small groups and then in plenary sessions with 15 participants.

One aspect was the implementation of a Chief Happiness Officer as the function responsible for employee satisfaction within the company. While the title of the role was met with a general smile, most of the participants were more familiar with the function. During the course of the evening, however, the idea arose to develop the role indirectly rather than assigning it to one person. One participant reported the beneficial effect of a revitalized internal sports group. The emotionality of sport creates a new quality of human relationship that has a positive impact on the business relationship. Jointly practiced sport offers a space where individuals can show the side of themselves that otherwise only the court jester, the balladeer or the Chief Happiness Officer can. People can laugh, swear and grumble without fear of it appearing in their personnel file afterwards. Sport has thus given permission to be human. But perhaps the colleague who encouraged sport is exactly the kind of Chief Happiness Officer we were looking for in the first place...

Next base camp on 29.6. on the topic: "Digitalization. What does this mean for leadership?"
