Visualization is an important tool for Scrum teamsto talk about the same thing, make decisions, illustrate processes, explain Scrum to others, etc. But drawing it yourself is not exactly easy and the saying "practice makes perfect" is not very helpful. That's why I'm giving you a step-by-step Scrum visualization guide to help you illustrate typical Scrum terms yourself.

Why is visualization actually important?
Visualization is an important tool for our perception. We only absorb 10% of the content by reading alone. If we also listen to the content, it is already 20%. If we add visualization, we already reach 50% - half of the content remains in our memory. This can only be increased through independent explanation (70%) and our own actions (90%).

Which materials are helpful?
You don't actually need much for a successful visualization. Paper, a black flipchart pen and a colored one. If you want to make it a bit more chic, a gray flipchart pen is also helpful for drawing shadows.
Sketchbook "Scrum Visualization" for practicing
Now all that's missing are the pictures - and for that you need to develop your own visual vocabulary. This works in a similar way to learning vocabulary. Write down the term you want to visualize on a piece of paper. Now think about what image you associate with it and try to visualize it. At this point, only practicing will help. Keep drawing the picture until you are happy with your visualization. Only then do you think about whether you want to add a shadow and use more colors.

To help you get started, you will find many basic Scrum terms in this eBook in a step-by-step explanation. This way you can learn to draw Scrum step by step. Over time, you can simply adapt the pictures or replace them with your own or not, it's up to you.
