Visualization is an important tool for Scrum teams to talk about the same, make decisions, show processes, explain Scrum to others and so on. But drawing yourself is not exactly easy and the statement “practice makes perfect” is not very helpful. Therefore I will give you a step by step Scrum visualization guide to help you.
Why is Scrum visualization important?
Visualization is an important tool for our perception. By pure reading we absorb only 10% of the content. If we also listen to the content it is already 20%. If we add visualization, we already reach 50% – half of the content remains in our memory. This can only be increased by independent explaining (70%) and doing (90%).
Which materials are helpful?
Scrum visualization – Sketchbook practice
Now all that’s missing are the pictures – and for that you’ll need to develop your own picture vocabulary. This works similar to learning vocabulary. Write down the term you want to visualize on a piece of paper. Now think about the image you associate with it and try to represent it visually. At this point it should be said that only practice will help. Paint the image until you are satisfied with your representation. Only after that, think about whether you want to put a shadow and use more colors.
